Hi,

I keep having intermittent problems with my PC; when I had windows 7 it used to blue screen. I kept getting CACHE_MANAGER and IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL. I upgraded to Windows 10 and my user account became corrupt; had to get a new account. Now what makes me think I have a bad motherboard is that I scratched the back of it when trying to get a screw out that had lost its thread. It looked something like this (see picture). The picture is of another board that I scratched when trying to get a thread out of. I've also read online quite a few people have had issues with the same board blue screening. I have run MemTest - passed and I have run SeaTools for DOS. Motherboard drivers are up to date, BIOS is not. GPU drivers are not up to date, I think. I am thinking the motherboard is to blame - am I right?
Thank you,
Alex Kensit

Solution
fast boot keeps a snapshot of ur system settings to make the next boot faster...the downside is if there is any file system corruption, the same remains in the snapshot and might malfunction...its better to disable fast boot...
first of all...there is no picture...
secondly...cache manager, irql and user account issues are not usually motherboard related...cache manager and irql are more ram related...
third...sometimes bad memory can pass memtest as well...

point is...i am not saying ur motherboard cannot be faulty...but it is less likely...

wats the status now...wat issues are u exactly facing rite now???

in ur initial post, u suspected the motherboard being faulty...
well...usually from what i have observed...motherboard faults are more outright...meaning, either it will stop working altogether or it will generate post issues...
so i am not too convinced whether it is a motherboard issue...
can u try another ram stick???
do u have a graphics card installed???
did this happen during any gaming session by any chance???

Didn't happen in any gaming session. Yes I have a GT610, have the latest drivers installed.

When you say "plays ok" do you mean play in the terms of gaming? Because I don't really do any gaming.

Well , I built it on the 25th December 2015. But the original FX6300 CPU and ASUS motherboard were bad, so I replaced it with the i5 and Z97 somepoint in Feburary as I can remember. I sorry, I don't really know. It seems like so long ago and I've been too busy trying to fix these problems.

No, when I first posted this thread I did not have the latest drivers. When I did a clean install of W10, a week ago, I grabbed the latest video driver. And still got the BSOD; some people have said sleeping the PC causes problems - is this true?
Could the PSU also be the issue?

there are known instances of what u say...best way is to not sleep the pc by changing the power settings...
psu cannot be the issue directly...but indirectly yes...if its not generating enuf power as per requirement, then the components cud falter resulting in bsod...
wat psu r u using???

I've been checking out the UEFI making sure everything is okay in there. Something called "Intel Rapid Start technology" is not enabled. I enabled it and it said "No bootable device". Should this be enabled? I've reset to defaults now.

What do you think I should do? It will cost me £142 ($206) to get a replacement motherboard and windows (I've used it on like three different PCs, its legit though) or £150 ($150) to get a laptop. Any more suggestions?
