I'm trying to enable XMP for G. Skills Ripjaws V series DDR4 3200 and it's not working. Aftering enabling in the bios and rebooting it fails. The build is i7-6700K OC to 4.5 on a Gigabyte Z170XP-Sli.

Solution
If the components all supported what you are trying to do then things would work. I haven't done much overclocking on the Z170 platform, but I imagine that most motherboards still work so that when you overclock the CPU by adjusting the clock, it will overclock the memory as well. There are an awful lot of variables that could have been changed when you overclocked your CPU. I would try returning the CPU to stock and then set the RAM. If the RAM can't perform at its rated speeds, you might consider returning it.
Enabling XMP is essentially overclocking the RAM. If you have already overclocked your system, this could push the RAM beyond its capabilities. It's also possible that the combination of your RAM/CPU/Motherboard just can't handle the settings you are trying to apply.

There shouldn't be an issue. All the components support what I'm trying to do.
