I have installed kali linux on my laptop with a usb, kali linux is working great and all. but when i shut down the laptop and turn it back on the installation menu is there again and it saves nothign that i did. I do remember it saying to remove the installation media cd-rom ( my usb) how do i do that? Do i just remove the usb and then kali will turn on and be saved? thanks

Solution
You've installed it on the laptop.
But you leave the USB stick connected.

It would appear that it is still booting from the USB.

So yes, take the USB stick out.
See what happens.
I am not sure why you would use kali linux it is made for penetration testing and fairly advanced stuff( my guess is you are not judging by the usb booting) use something more general use like ubuntu or work focused like fedora but best overall is probably linux mint.

By the way if you use kali tools you can get into a lot of actual legal troubles if you do not know what you are doing.
