I just built my first pc and when I try to boot Windows 10 from my cd drive, it crashes and I get a blue screen. I cannot boot from a usb drive because the bios doesn't recognize it. I can access the files in the usb from the bios, but cannot do anything with them. I copied the exact build my friend did, and she had zero issues. Has anyone seen this problem before?

mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
cpu: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz
hdd: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
ssd: SanDisk Internal SSD 120GB 2.5-Inch SDSSDA-120G-G25
ram: I dont remember but I have 8 gb

Solution

try instaling windows on your ssd off another computer then plug it in and boot from it (99% sure works with windows 10) and then run stress tests on the cpu, gpu, ram

I did both of those things and I'm still having the same issue. Also, I was able to get the usb recognized, but it does the same thing as the cd drive. It just crashes and I get a blue screen with no error code.

i dont know if the latest bios will fix anything it seems to just be CPU microcode updates, do you have a windows 7 disk or ISO laying around somewhere?
