Laptop connected to TV, picture doesnt fill the entire screen

I have a Lenovo laotop and a thorn tv. when i connect my laptop to my tv via HDMI cord the picture only fills out a small portion of the screen leaving a black border. Is this fixable?

Try increasing the resolution.
If you have more than 1 HDMI port in TV so change the port.
check drivers if needed upgrade them
choose double display option from laptop when plugging it in TV
