Hello,

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2
I've been running my PC with 2GB of Ram for quite some years, in the form of a 2GB DDR3 Kingston 1333 stick I've purchased an 8GB HyperX Fury CL10 yesterday, and I'm getting beeping sounds from the PC Speaker when trying to turn it on with both sticks inside.

Am I doing anything wrong here? Is my motherboard at fault, perhaps?
Thank you in advance.

Solution
Your motherboard supports up to 8GB ram total.
And memory support list doesn't have any 8GB ram modules in it.

So - try starting with single 8GB module.
If it doesn't work, get 2x 4GB ram modules.

Does it work with just the 8GB module installed?

The probable reason it doesn't work is because the modules aren't matched. Most BIOSes are smart enough to choose the lowest-common-denominator (slowest) settings when non-matched memory modules are installed but sometimes this just isn't possible (for example, if the modules require different voltages) or the modules are so mismatched that the BIOS just gives up.

Realistically, the extra 2GB probably isn't worth having, given that it will limit the performance of the other 8GB. Just use the new module on its own.

Sorry I did not mention this, so silly of me!
It does indeed work with the 8 GB module by itself!
I did not notice (I should have searched deeper) that the board only supports 8 GB.
Thank you for the answers, I might have avoided this question had I searched in a better way and for a little while longer.
