windows 7 internal hard-drive problems

i have a problem with my toshiba 500 gb harddrive just yesterday i started up windows 7 and i started watching a movie that i downloaded but then it stopped so i restarted and opened back up the folder and all of the sudden windows didnt detect my second harddrive and it said it was unplugged i checked the cables inside my pc but it still says it is unplugged the harddrive is internal

please help

Hey there again, Alex!

I'd advise you to try to resolve the issue by resetting BIOS on your PC. You should also check if 'Rescan Disks' in Disk Management will make the HDD pop up there.
I'd also recommend you go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and make sure you got the latest SATA controller & Chipset drivers installed for your model. While you are still there, you might also want to check your BIOS version.

I'd suggest you attempt to connect the secondary drive to a different SATA port on the motherboard using a different SATA cable. I'd also recommend you check Device Manager, Disk Management and BIOS to check if it's recognized there at least.

Another thing you should try is connecting the HDD to another computer (if you have access to one) and see how it will get recognized there.

thank you very much for the reply the hdd shows in the bios it works on my other editing pc and it worked there but not on this pc i have tried different power cables and sata cables but it didnt work
