Hello

My use for the computer is for workstation purposes only and not for gaming.

I will do 2xSLI (maximum)in the future but 2 Nvidia Gpus would be enough. I wont be using 3 gpus or 4 gpus.

But for now. I only plan on using 1 GPU.

I have the following case:

GIGABYTE 3D AURORA GZ-FSCA1

I would like to know which would be the best ATX board compatible with Intel i7-5820K which would fit in Gigabyte 3d Aurora Case

My Budget is $330 for the motherboard

I have no brand preference. Which ever brand is the most reliable in the long run.

Why do you need SLI GPU's if not for gaming? There really is no use for them at all. Even the 5820k, overkill for a workstation, unless you're doing 3d or cad or whatever, and then you would want to use a quadro or firerpo gpu, not SLI consumer gpus.

That depends again, what kind of workstation is it? What will you be working on particularly?

2 Xeons can be very serious horsepower, but a waste of money if not needed for the task.

I do photoshop, ableton live audio editing, and will be doing 1080p/720p video editing.

What about ASUS Z10PE D8. Could i start with 1 CPU Xeon E5 v3 and then add 2 CPU later on when the need arises ?

Asus X99 Deluxe supports certain Xeon CPUs

List is here:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99DELUXE/HelpDesk_CPU/

Since i dont plan on overclocking would Xeon be a better choice compared to i7

I was just reading this article which compares i7 and Xeons
https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Intel-CPUs-Xeon-E5-vs-Core-i7-634/

Dual Xeons is crazy for what you are doing, thats more than you need to spend. The 5820k will be excellent at it, and that ASUS X99 deluxe motherboard is a good choice for it.

As for a GPU many video editing programs are built to use the power of a discrete GPU so buying something like a GTX 970 would be beneficial, but I wouldn't bother to plan to SLI, you don't need that for this.

This whole setup will be a lot cheaper than trying to go dual Xeon and will work just as well.

Is there any other choices apart from Asus X99 Deluxe, I wont be upgrading for 6 to 7 years. So i need a motherboard which is somewhat futureproof.

In other words, which X99 motherboard is the most reliable in the long run.

I personally always choose ASUS motherboards for reliability and longetivity. X99 still is a current platform so that is good as well.

ASUS did just come out with an improved X99 DELUXE II you may want to look into that.

Futureproof is a myth, in 6 or 7 years this chipset, the ram, processors, etc will all be outdated, some parts may not even be produced anymore. That said building the best you can now (which you are) means it will last longer, even if upgrades become unlikely.

There are a lot of negative reviews for the Asus board your linked on amazon.

I don't trust Amazon reviews at all, they are generally written by people who don't have a clue. Also people like to bitch about bad stuff but don't always talk about good things.

Its ultimately your choice, that is the board I would choose as I trust ASUS.
