Laptop (NP9150 through Sager) GPU running hot - Gaming for the past few months has been poor

The GPU gtx 670M on my windows 7 laptop from almost 4 years ago has been running quite hot - around 100C after several mintues of gaming. Sometimes I can play a game with it and it will run nicely, and then a few minutes later the fps will drop and the fans are going hard, with temperatures reaching (what I have gathered to be) fairly high temps just over 100C.

I looked at the fans and they seem fine (both rpm and dust-wise). My drivers are up to date. I should mention that my batter indicator has been telling me to replace the laptop battery for a while, but it still works when unplugged (its mostly plugged in else I am traveling for a day).

Is there a lifetime for gpus or something? Do I need to buy a whole new laptop because this thing won't run like it used to? I haven't tried taking apart the thermal stuff (need to find a smaller screwdriver first), but is it normal for cooling things to need replacement after a while?

I haven't really been able to find much about my GPU online - or the laptop with this issue. Any help is much appreciated!

First, I recommend considering the environment your using it. Is it in an open space, or in a compact area? Are you lying it on surfaces that allow airflow? Those temps do sound pretty hot though, so it is very possible the thermal compound has dissipated a bit from the heat, and if all else fails, it might be worth ordering a $7 tube of thermal paste(such as Arctic Silver), clean the CPU and GPU of thermal compound, and reapply it. Hope that helps!

I actually do use it in an open environment. The issue seems to have started slowly and now it's just too annoying to me. It really seems to be a heating problem, but not due to unusual use in the past few months. I'll look into thermal paste and such. Haven't done this sort of thing before.

EDIT: I ordered AS-5 and will report back this weekend!

Yup looks like I am getting better performance after new thermal. I must say the CPU fan grid was pretty dusty it turns out. The GPU one was fine as I had seen before. Thermal paste was old and hard as a rock.
