i shall be upgrading my gpu in the next week and i just want one final recap of what im doing.

i have a 6670 which is connected to a 430w Psu which is not enough for the new gpu so im going to buy a Corsair VS550 ATX/EPS Vs Series 550 W 80 Plus for the r9 380x 4gb asus it should be enough power im not looking to spend any more than that much (£40)

and one last question will it have enough pci-e connecters because the desc for the new gpu says 2x6 pin connecters will the new psu handle that. thanks

With the 550w being the absolute minimum for this GPU, I would strong suggest you not to use your selected PSU. It is on the budget end and not knowing your other PC components, do not use this. A weak PSU can wreck your entire computer components. this 380x will draw a max of ~300w. Which does not leave a lot of room for other components with this load rating. Leave yourself room to expand some (upgraded cpu).

With that being said, it has 2 six pin connectors.

hi i have a i5-3330 and i have 8gb ram do you think i can get a different one that will work under £40 or around £40 like 80 gold or something like that or maybe a 600 for that price thanks

You may not be looking to spend more tahn 40, but you really should:

or atleast this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-100-B1-0500-KR-Bronze-Power-Supply/dp/B00DZ6R9GE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463430337&sr=8-1&keywords=EVGA+100-B1-0500-KR

what about this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-600-Power-Supply-Unit/dp/B01127D0MY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1463430342&sr=8-4&keywords=cx600

I don't know about that one, but you should know that EVGA does not mean something good by default. They have very good stuff and pretty bad stuff.
Generally, regardless how tempting it is to skimp on the PSU, it's NEVER a good idea. That extra 10 "saved" may end up consting you your entire system.

That PSU should be strong enough. Full specs available on the EVGA website:
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=100-B1-0600-KR

It's pushing 49A on the +12v rail (so max power to the gpu of 588W). Whilst this is a budget model with cheaper capacitors, you'll only be running it at around 50% capacity on the gpu so I think it'll work fine. Many users promote using top quality (and very expensive) PSUs, however in my experience as long as your not overclocking or otherwise pushing them too hard a reasonable entry level unit like this is sufficient and perfectly reliable. Also many users overestimate the power usage of certain gpu's, the 380X is unlikely to use as much as 300W in actual gaming (that kind of power draw is only likely running something like Furmark which is a very unrealistic workload designed to stress test a gpu).

thanks for the reply cdrkf i will take a look at it but are you sure the one i specified wouldn't work as well as the one you suggested https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-600-Power-Supply-Unit/dp/B01127D0MY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1463430342&sr=8-4&keywords=cx600

If they worked the same, they would cost the same, wouldn't they? :)
The one he linked is teh more powerful version of what i suggested. You can make do with 500w.

what makes you think that?

Did you check out the pcpartpicker url ?? If the VS 550 didn't have 2 X6pin connectors, the pcpartpicker would show a RED incompatibility warning!!

Yes that is currently the standard slot for graphics cards. You only need more if you want to SLI 2 cards at once (in which case you need 2 slots).
