ROG formula V motherboard.
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 8GB Red x 4 (only 24 GB installed)
CPU: AMD FX-8320 Black Edition, Socket-AM3+
GPU: AMD R9 290x
Power supply: Cooler Master G650M, 650W PSU
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V8 GTS
+ 5 fans
OS: windows 10

This is my hardware. Ofc with monitor etc.

What should my next upgrade be?

I am looking for more power to run BF4 smoother. Cause when it does that, I know for fact that it can handle BF1 when it comes out.

I only use my PC for gaming if that helps.

FX-8350 and FX-8370 aren't going to make much of an impact. Neither would a 9000 series chip, basically just a highly overclocked 8000. If you overclock the CPU, that is about as good as it gets with your hardware platform. So, yes, the motherboard.

The low spots are certainly the CPU if you say graphics changes don't make a difference.

Run BF4 smoother? What do you mean by that? What monitor do you have? That setup should come very close to maxing out bf4 at 1080p 60hz, so at 1080p 60hz you would likly see no benefits from upgrading anything. If you have say a 1440p monitor or a 1080p 120hz or higher monitor then you may seem some gains from upgrading your hardware.

This would have to be a total re-build to get any better performance really.

New CPU/Motherboard/RAM, new GPU. I would hold out for Polaris and Zen if you are an AMD fan.

Otherwise. Intel + Pascal or Intel + Polaris in the coming months.

I have a BenQ 60 hz monitor, I do not lock my fps, so I get screen tearing. Im currently gamine on 1920x1080 16:9
The reason why I dont lock my FPS is because of input lag with V-sync.
And if I lock my FPS through cfg.file I still get screen tearing.

When I max out BF4 in game settings, I reach max 80 fps, and it can drop to as low as 35. But an average of 55 FPS on ultra. If this is the max the game can deliver, then OK.

I just want the FPS to be stable. Lowering the graphics setting doesent seem to help. And I have also done all the tricks in the book for improve BF4

No I havent. Ive heard that my setup is perfect for OC, But the lack of experience, and the lack of guides on AMD FX8320 kinda spook me off the OC operation.

I dont want to fuck my PC up.

I guess at at least should reach 4 Ghz with OC, due to that the turbo core boost aims for that frequence.

If you have any guides on the AMD FX8320, links etc on how to OC that CPU. I would be greatfull :)

How so? Is it my motherboard?

Next CPU is for sure going to be Intel. Not sure with the GPU, but it is not going to be AMD thats for sure.....

Have you tried vsync for yourself to determine if it adds a noticeable amount of input lag? I use it all the time I would much prefer an accurate image thats not tearing wildly and a framerate that doesn't vary by 30fps depending on what im doing in game, thats distracting and hurts my performance in games more than the little bit of input lag vsync adds. If you want a stable framerate that isn't jumping around everywhere new hardware will not help vsync will.

And to put this frankly if you never planned on overclocking I have no idea why you bought like the most expensive AM3+ motherboard out there which was designed with overclocking in mind and that expensive air cooler. You could have spent much less on this build and had it perform exactly the same if you never planned on overclocking. Its perfectly safe if done correctly especially with that hardware. This guide I linked below is easy to follow and should help you achive a good stable overclock.

yes I have tried V-sync on everygame I have. It causes a big input lag, and its not playable for me then. Guess if you are used to V-sync it could work, but I am used to snappy input.
I would love to have my FPS locked at 60, but I cant deal with the input lag. Agreed that the frames is mutch smoother and better with FPS lock to monitor Hz and server ticket.
I tried to cap the FPS with cfg.file and console command. Got the V-sync without the input lag, but screen tearing wasnt gone.

I never planed to buy this PC. But I did. My brother builded it. he's the IT guy. But frankly that even he cant OC in bios makes me doubt he's IT skillz.

So here I am, trying to learn from you guys :p

Tanks for the link :) Will check it out.

Well, Guess I just have to OC the hell out of my CPU then. And start saving for a more powerfull gaming machine.
