Hello,

I've been looking for a good deal on the GTX 970 for several months. Today I found that with a promo code stacked with an AMEX bill credit, I can get the Zotac ZT-90101-10P GeForce GTX 970 for $233. Is this a good deal or would these cards go down even more with the release of the GTX 1070? Should I pull the trigger or wait?

You're saving roughly 20% over the regular price https://pcpartpicker.com/part/zotac-video-card-zt9010110p

The price will come down after the the 1070 is released, but likely only briefly initially. You'd probably see a 10-20% reduction the week or two of the 1070 launch but the pricing will bounce back (if new GPU releases in the past have taught us anything). A 970 will still do the job for a lot of people, and they'll still sell for ~$300 or so, so re/e-tailers really don't need to drop the price much at all.

Guaranteed 20% off today, or luckily 20% when the 1070 is released.........or wait 6-12 months for prices to drop substantially.

So, yeah. If a 970 is the card you want, I'd say the 20%(ish) saving on offer to you today...

Thanks for the detailed response Barty1884! The 970 will surely do the job for my type of gaming, but I'm always looking for the best value in what I am purchasing as well. I suppose I could probably even get equal value in return if I resell it within the next year.
