Currently I own Vapor-X R9 280X 3G D5 and I have the opportunity to swap it for EVGA GTX 770 4GB SC ACX . Is this a good idea or no? Will the 1 gig extra ram be of any difference in gaming performance? I'm currently playing on 1920x1080 resolution.

Is it an in-person swap with someone you trust?

Even 3GB is wasted on cards of this speed. The extra 1GB won't do anything. The 770 can, in some situations, be faster. It depends on what games you are playing. I would do it; I like/need nVidia cards. If you've never run an nVidia card, play nVidia-optimized games, or want to use nVidia-exclusive features (that Ansel screenshot tool will be 770-compatible) it could be a good idea.

Bottom line: do it for the experience, not performance.

At some circumstances The GTX 770 4gb is a tiny bit better than the R9 280X 3gb. I dont think its worth to swap it unless your getting the 770 for free. But I advise you to stick with the 280X as it almost has the same performance as the 770 unless your willing to overclock the 770 as it has a bit better performance than the 280X maybe 2-6 FPS more depending on some games.

I'm not going to pay anything for the 770. We'll trade the cards with no extra cost. If that's what you mean by free.
