Hey guys, I have the xfx r9 390x graphics card and I heard something about its compatibility with an fx socket motherboard or something along those lines? (Not the greatest with comp terms! Sorry if this makes no sense!!) He was saying it cant push enough power for the graphics card therefore making it not being at its full capacity right now. I am using the 760gma-p34(FX) motherboard.. (cries) If I was to get an AM motherboard would it actually increase my performance? Would I have to get a new cpu along with it? My current cpu is the amd fx6300 fx socket so I am assuming it wouldnt work with an am motherboard. If this is all the case, what are some of the best recommendations for a new motherboard and if needed, a new cpu? Thanks in advance for your time!!!

Update: Just remembered it has something to do with pci 3.0 support if that helps.

Solution
No, PCIE standard should allow your gpu and am3 motherboard to work together just fine. A 390 is not fastest enough to use the maximum bandwidth of PCIE 2.0 16x. Getting a motherboard with PCIE 3.0 won't give any performance gain.
