Hello, I just graduated high school and am looking forward to college in the fall. I am intending to major in Nuclear Engineering. The question I have is what would be a good laptop for this intended major. I have only one prerequisite, and that is if it could fit in the price range of $1000 max. Please offer any links and advice as any and all is helpful.

Thanks

If you need to use CAD programs (likely), I suggest a workstation system that has a pro level video card vs a gaming card or a standard system with onboard video.

While $1,000 is a bit tough for that market, Lenovo P50s is in that range http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50s/

Aside from that you can look at a year old Lenovo W model, HP Z Book or Dell Precision to get the specs you need. I'd say you'd want 8 GB of RAM or more. http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-20BG0014US-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00HD7IX7K http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-W530-243852U-Notebook/dp/B00BFFB08A

I have a Lenovo W510, and have used the HP Z Books often, I like the Lenovo one better.
