Seriously, I am at wits end with this.

Hey all,

Up until recently I had a full functioning personal built PC. However, after removing my old GTX 760 to get ready for the new NVIDIA series, I have suddenly run into trouble with one of my case fans which has been working great for 4 months.

Issue: Spins up on post but stops running once it boots to Windows 10. Also, I have noticed since my temps have dropped without the GPU, the fans all run a lot slower which I presume is normal due to less heat and not related?

Solutions tried: Changing different settings in bios like switching to manual and setting a higher PWM, Normal, Auto, Silent and also Full Speed (which does get it working but it is noisy as).
I recently installed Gigabyte Easy Tune to control the fan and this gets it working constantly in Windows, but, I have to manually go into the app and click performance mode before it spins after each shut down, restart; which I find frustrating.

I previously had PWM fans but realized they did not work well or if at all when connected to the MOBO and didn't like having to run them through the fan controller which I eventually sold.

The fan in question is Noctua Industrial 140mm 2000 RPM 3 pin fan

My current Motherboard is GA-Z97M-D3H (rev. 1.1) http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5257#ov

Lastly, I still have my PCIE cables taped off but connected to the Seasonic power supply awaiting a new GPU, could this be the issue for some reason?

Thanks,

Tim.

It sounds like there is less heat in the case since you removed the GPU, so the fans don't have to spin as much. Check you temps with HWMonitor or similar. If they are good, I woudl not worry about it. You could try updating the BIOS on your MB and see if that fixes anything. Probably try resetting the CMOS first, before attempting to update the BIOS.
