So I bought what I think to be a decent gaming PC. Doesn't seem to have any issues running games or dropping FPS but I have had a weird flicker/white line issue that comes and goes while gaming. See the linked video.

YouTube video

I'm almost certain it's the PSU after doing some research. I guess I went with a CyberPower brand and it seems to possibly not be strong enough to handle this rig. My PC details are below.

CAS: CyberPowerPC X-Titan 100 MID-Tower Gaming Case w/ Side-Window Panel
CD: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR)

Do you guys think the PSU could be causing the issue in the Youtube video? If so, what PSU would you recommend that could run my rig optimally? Thanks so much.

10000 is an appropriate FireStrike benchmark for your system.

You could have a bad PCIe slot. The second, x8 slot, will run your GPU fine. Have you tried putting it back in the original slot? It could have been an installation issue with the card not in the slot properly.
No, I don't think it is the power supply power. 1000W is far more than enough for that system. 550W would be plenty.

I have not seen that problem before. It is only with that game, or does it have that problem with benchmarks and tests too? If so, does it have that problem when you run tests from the iGPU of your CPU (you'll have to take the GPU out to test)

To track this down you will need to get deliberate and 'scientific' and test each system in the comp[uter, one part at a time until the problem is located.

I'd be starting with the GPU hardware and software.

I'm not very experienced when it comes to testing hardware specifically. Are there any programs you suggest? I did open it and saw the power supply was an ATNG 1150FC-GO which I can't find any reviews on. I was just told by s friend to never buy CuberPower standard power supply which is what I mistakenly did so I went ahead and bought an EVGA Supernova 850 P2 any ways.

Thank you for the replies. The EVGA is being shipped and will be here next week. I've tried 2 different HDMI and 1 DVI. All had the same problem. My rig has not been overclocked to my knowledge.

What I did was to move the GTX 970 down from the top PCIEX16 slot to the PCIEX8 slot on the motherboard and with testing so far (1/2 day) all is working well.

I ran 3DMark and it completed the test with no issue. Scored around 10000 I think if that means anything. Can a PCIE slot just go bad like that? Could it have been from a crummy PSU? I'm going to wait until I get the EVGA to fully test things but for now it seems to be okay.

Bad psu can kill other components. When the shitty ones fail, most of the time they take other components down with them.
If you can test with another graphics card in that 1st slot, you can rule out if the PCIe slot is the problem.

I tested it X1 day in the 2nd (x8) PCIE slot and all tests were normal. Have ran it about 12 hours now with the card back in the 1st (x16) slot and all is well so far. Too early to tell but it may have just been an installation issue before. *crosses fingers*

It is really easy to install a GPU with a slight tilt from front to back so that the card makes poor contact. We build computers at school and my students have done that. They have gotten NO signal at all. I have not seen your problem.

I hope this has given you the confidence to work with your system a bit more. Modern computers are similar to LEGOS for adults, if a bit more expensive if you loose a brick :)

Anyway you could post what brand they ended up sending you for your "standard" 1000w 80 plus gold PSU? I made the same mistake thinking 1000w and gold would be fine. :/ mine should be here in a week or two... I tried to change it but they said it was too late that it was already in the warehouse part...even though it had only been a day and a half since ordering. They said I could cancel and reorder but I wanted to keep all the upgrades i got... I watched for weeks to jump in on the best daily deal.
