Memory Upgrade Question (Simple)

Simple enough: Both sticks of RAM in my ASUS P8P67 Deluxe motherboard have independently failed on me. One's had issues for a while, and it looks like the second just went. The old RAM was standard 1333 MHz @ 9/9/9/24 timings, and frankly, was overdue for an upgrade anyway.

Since I only plan to keep the system around another year or two, I upgraded on the cheap to:
http://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-PC3-12800-1600MHz-9-9-9-24-F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL/dp/B00339X1EM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463446968&sr=8-1&keywords=F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO

And yes, I checked the RAM is compatible before purchasing.

Anyways, since it's been ages since I've done this, is the BIOS (or UEFI) going to automatically detect the new RAM, or am I going to have to enter the timings manually? Any pitfalls to be aware of?

That's pretty much it. Told you it was simple.

Install and they will go to the mobo default - probably 1066, the only DRAM that will automatically try and set itself up is the Kingston Fury sticks that run off PnP. Enable XMP and select profile 1 in the BIOS and they should set themselves up. If any problem check you have the latest BIOS and/or get back to us and provide what CPU

I agree. With 1600 and cl9 you get some good performance. I am pretty sure those sticks an handle it piece of cake too.

RAMs installed and passed Windows Memory Diagnostic and Memtest86+, and all 8GB is being recognized. I'll obviously need a few weeks of gaming to ensure stability, but looks good.

A bit annoyed though; I specifically ordered my PC use 2x4GB sticks, and I ended up with 4x2GB sticks. Could very well explain the occasional memory issues, since 4 sticks is always less stable.
