I currently have an fx-6300 and r9 280x (that isn't working properly) and am planning on getting a 107/80. I know that I will see bottlenecks however, I can't really afford to upgrade the cpu yet. Should I find a way and get skylake now or wait and see how Zen and Kaby Lake perform. Should my fx-6300 work to the end of the year on medium high settings for new AAA games?

Feel free to wait, the 6300 performs okay on most modern games. You won't be getting astonishingly good framerates, but even CPU hogging games like Dying Light will run at 20 FPS. My OC'd 6100 is serving me fairly well, I keep waiting for the next big development in CPU tech, but it doesn't happen.
