Hello, recently, I put out this build:

Processor: i5-4690k
Mobo: MSI Intel Z97 LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.1

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) 1600 MHz Clock Speed DDR3 PC3-12800 240-Pin UDIMM Memory Module (BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00)

GPU: gtx970 evga 4gb

While "test" playing one of my regular game, I have encountered a BSOD: PFN List Corrupt. Now I know instability is not uncommon for built PCs; with this reason I downloaded an ran a stress test using AIDA64. I was only able to run a stress test for about an hour or so as my computer always display BSOD, however, this time, instead of PFN List Corrupt, it always say Paged fault on non-paged area. I kinda have a feeling that this is a memory issue because when I tried stress testing my CPU alone, no BSOD occured.

So far, I have tried these things to get rid of this BSOD but to no avail:

>upgraded my BIOS/Drivers

>Switched Dimm Slots

>Disabled XMP on my motherboard

Also, I am not really sure about the relevance of this, but on boot, "Desktop WIndow Manager has stopped working" warning always comes up.

Do I have a faulty RAM/mobo ram slots? Are my parts incompatible? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

CPU ID puush for further info:

Again, thank you very much!

Solution
You could do that why not? Its not dangerous by .05.
But first i'd try to disable XMP, but you said you've tried with XMP disabled, right? In that case disable XMP and do the overvolt.

I have CX750 from corsair. Is it possible that I am lacking in energy output? Thanks

If I were to run memtest86, and it displays an error, does it mean that my ram is bad? Does memtest also detect if the one that is causing instability on my rig is my Mobo's Dimm slots? Thanks!

Test the sticks separately. And start thinking about that wonderfull "lifetime" warranty ;)

He has a point, it comes with a warranty for a reason... Take advantage of that so you don't have to pay to get a replacement pair. Also, the Corsair CX series of power supplies are very low quality and can cause voltage irregularities. I would consider replacing it with a Cooler Master V series power supply, a Corsair AX/AXi, RM/RMi, HXi series power supply, or an EVGA Supernova G2/P2/T2 power supply. 750 watts should be plenty for your system.

It just detects errors, it doesn't know if it is from the slot or the memory stick. You would have to move the memory stick to another slot and see if they error follows the stick or the slot.

Hello everyone, Just a little update, I just ran memtest86+ for 7 hours and it detected 0 errors. So it seems like the ram is ok but what should I do now? I still get BSODs whenever I stress test memory using AIDA. Should I do a clean reinstall of my OS? I also forgot to note that, when I first installed my OS, the rams were plugged into the "non-suggested" DIMMs by my mobo (not sure if theres any relevance to this). Further, I always get an error message, as stated on my first post, whenever I boot my PC. Could that lead to BSODs? Thank you very much everyone!

A fresh windows install would be the next step i'd take.

Doing that atm. I will run AIDA afterwards and will update with whatever the result is. Thanks a bunch!

Hello, I actually slotted the both of the RAMs in the mobo preferred slots after I first encountered a BSOD. Currently doing a clean OS install. Will update later. Thanks you very much!

Just finished installing new OS, updating all drivers/windows. Ran AIDA64; after 5 mins or so, got another Page_fault_in_non_paged BSOD. What should I do next :??: Also, the "Desktop window manager stopped working and was closed" message appeared again (after I installed new/current GPU driver). Please help :c

I forgot to mention this, but, it seems like BSOD only occurs when I am stress testing the RAM. There was only 1 time, and it was the first BSOD, that a BSOD occurred. Also, last night, I tried only using 1 stick of RAM and the stress test ran for ~3hours without any BSOD. I havent tried to do memtest on each of the stick because the memtest that I ran, which resulted on 0 errors, used both of my sticks. Not really sure if this has any relevance but yeah.
