So i got a new computer a few weeks ago. My processor is an AMD FX-8320 @3.5 Ghz. i have 8gb of ram, and an R9 380 4gb. Now i used to have an alienware alpha (I5 model) and it ran skyrim like a breeze. But with my new computer it drops below 60 fps all the time. The alienware alpha NEVER dropped below 60 fps. I have hear a rumor that bethesda game run like crap on AMD graphics cards. i also have windows 7 (no service packs) i just want some feedback on whats going on. I can bear the lower fps (never drops below 45) but i just dont want all of my other more graphically intensive games to run like crap either. as long as GTA V dosemt look like Minecraft, then lower graphics arent a problem as long as i get decent FPS.

Thanks in advance!!

The i5 is obviously better performer CPU wise. Only on certain workloads the FX would win. Namely, anything that relies heavily on multi-threading. And gaming, such a shame I'd say, does not benefit much from lots of CPU cores. Understandably, the programming would be stuff of nightmare for developers. Which is why most of the time they relies heavily on up to 2 cores for their apps.

Also, price-performance wise, the FX you mention is only comparable to an i3. The i5 is much more expensive, and therefore obviously better performer. Regardless whatever GPU you use with.

This probably won't help much but you can make a shortcut to the skyrim launcher, and go into properties of the shortcut.
add +fullproc to the right of skyrimlauncher.exe so it'd be <disk>:\<Pathtoskyrim>\SkyrimLauncher.exe +fullproc
And get all drivers up to date (advanced systemcare 9 helps) and that all i can suggest, hope it helps
