Hi all,
I have a Gateway DX4320 desktop computer running 64-bit Windows 10 Pro. It presently has
1. Six GB of RAM. The RAM modules are Samsung 2GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory 240pin PC3-10600U 1333MHz M378B5673FH0-CH9.
2. One AMD Phenom II X4 820 Processor 2.80 GHz.
3. One Acer RS880M05 motherboard.
4. One NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti video card.
5. One CX650M semi-modular power supply.
I'm looking to upgrade the motherboard and CPU and would like a combo that provides a real boost for up and coming software releases as varied as MS Office or LibreOffice to media player software. I also do online gaming (e.g. Heroes and Generals, Elder Scrolls Online, etc...) and want to be ready for what's coming in the next couple of years. I understand I will need to change my video card to a more powerful one at some point in the future.
I can spend around $400 for a new motherboard and CPU (in addition to the funds I have set aside for new RAM modules); however, obviously a best value deal at a lower price point offering similar results is always appreciated.
What motherboard and CPU combination for my existing desktop computer would you suggest?
