I'm wanting to upgrade my gaming build. I have a mobo that supports lga 1155 but I'm wondering what is a good cpu for around 200 or less. I'll be getting the gtx 1070 when it launches and I don't want it to be a bottleneck with the cpu... Any help is much appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Right now I have a SUPER budget system. The cpu is an i5 2500, and the mobo is the biostar h61mgv3.

I would like to keep the mobo though.

Not at all, dude -- it's my bad, the H61 is definitely 1155..

Since you don't have an overclocking board you might be able to find a 3770 cheaper then the 'k' version.

Make sure to update the boards bios before installing an Ivy Bridge cpu to make sure its fully compatible.
If your boards revision is 7.0/7.4 it should be fine without a bios update.

Thanks man! There's an i7 3770t on eBay. Would that be a decent processor paired with the 1070?

The i7-3770t which has hyper-threading is good one indeed..

The 't' version is the low power cpu, it has a lower base clock of only 2.5ghz and boosts to 3.7ghz compared to the 3770 which has a base clock of 3.4ghz and boosts to 3.9ghz.

I would hunt around for a 3770 first, get the 3770t as a last resort.
