Hello i've never changed an HDD to a SSD before and I have some questions. The HDD looks like the screws holding it in are really hard to get to so can I just unhook the SATA data cable and the PSU power cable from my HDD, plug it into my SSD and leave my old HDD in my case without any problems? I'm not looking to use both at the same time, but only use my SSD.

I already have Windows 10 on my USB to fresh install it to my SSD.

Another question: How important is mounting it? Can I just lay it in there since it has no moving parts? I've heard mixed opinions on this.

This is the SSD I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/PNY-CS1311-480GB-Internal-Solid/dp/B019H3B6SU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

C'mon dude.. who "MOUNTS" HDDs ?? Mine are lying around, outside on a piece of cardboard.. Btw the CS1311 is a very good SSD.. Why don't u leave the HDD connected, you could leave it as a storage for less-used Files.. ANd yes, in some HDDs, those screws will break before they open, so leaving them be is the ONLY option..
