I had a problem that seems pretty common with R9 270 cards with screen flickering. The common solution is apparently to update the vbios for your card. My situation, however went almost exactly the same as this post. I tried to restore the vbios, however my motherboard has no integrated graphics so I had to use an older video card, a Radeon HD 7700.
With the HD 7700, I let windows do its normal startup thing, install generic video drivers, etc., and I was able to get into the vbios program, but as soon as I was ready to start it, the video cut out (I had not yet made any changes to the vbios at this point, but I had selected the file). Since then, I have been able to boot into Windows for only about 30 seconds, longer if in safe mode. I tried booting a Linux live CD, but it barely started to boot.
I have since removed the R9 270 (the original problem card) but the HD 7700 still loses video output soon after starting up. Heat and power shouldn't be a problem, and the card was fine the last time I used it. I have a third video card in another computer, but I'm paranoid it'll get "infected." I don't see how that could happen, but I also have no idea why the HD 7700 is broken now. Does anyone know what I can do, in order of importance: 1. revert the vbios of the R9 270x so that I can just go back to the status quo. 2. Undo whatever happened to the HD 7700 3. I obviously used the wrong vbios for my card. Can someone direct me to the right one, or suggest an alternative?
