Software needed for LG Blu-Ray Burner WH16NS40

I recently bought the LG Blu-Ray Burner WH16NS40. It did not come with software. I'm told that I need some sort of software to be able to play and burn BD's. What would be the software that is needed? Could I just use a video editing software for that?

Playing and burning are separate programs, though they are sometimes bundled together in a suite like what NERO offers.

I use Nero to burn, however there's a free program you can try:
http://www.burnaware.com/

There are free players you can Google for, but I've not tried any.

I have Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Essentials. Would that work for me to play and burn BD's?
