Hey all, I recently upgraded my graphics card that was a R7 360 to a Geforce GTX 970, I know the current CPU i have installed, AMD A10-7700K is certainly giving me some bottlenecks for the GPU. I was wondering if there would be a good CPU or APU to compliment this card without the need to get a new motherboard with different CPU socket types like the LGA, and on top of that a new CPU as well. If you have any info I would highly appreciate it, thanks all.

Here are my PC specs,

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H
GPU: GTX 970
RAM: 8GB (6.94GB usable for some reason?)
PSU: 850W Corsair
CPU: AMD A10-7700K FM2+
Windows 10 (x64)

AMD is in serious need of a new generation of CPUs and APUs with modern fabrication nodes and architectures. Zen is supposed to be that, when it is released (sometime within the next year).

Otherwise, an Intel i5 and an appropriate motherboard is the current basic upgrade option. As was mentioned above, your OS is keyed to your...

Probably the absolutely best you could do was an 880k with a reasonable overclock on it. This would help your performance a little but the CPU is £60-70 on its own for not a massive improvement.

I would suggest your best course of action is Skylake now or live with the bottleneck and checkout Zen as an option when it's released.

Okay, so would it just be best to upgrade to a new motherboard or something of that nature? I do appreciate your reply though, it means a lot. c:

Okay, sounds good to me, I'll go ahead and check of the skylakes and then see what the Zen can do for me as well, thank you a bunch.

keep in mind when you do upgrade your going to have to reinstall windows 10 assuming you bought a disc or whatever you upgraded from if you change motherboards

personally intel atm are admittedly better we have no clue what zen will bring
