So here's some backstory incase it helps. I had 4gbs of ram and wanted to upgrade to 8gbs, so I went out to a local PC shop, bought the ram, installed it, then got buttfucked by blue screens. I tried fixing this myself and wanted to reset my PC, by while doing this my PC crashed. So at this point my PC was saying that it didn't have any os installed and it wouldn't let me install a new one as it would crash whenever the installer finished. I then took my PC back to the shop and they found that one of the ram sticks was bad so they replaced it and re installed Windows for me free of charge :).

Fast forward to today and in the few days since I've gotten it back I've had this problem that whenever I boot my PC it gets as far as the Windows loading screen then my monitor loses signal. It loads into Windows and everything fine in safe mode and I'm assuming it's a gpu problem. Sometimes since I've gotten it back my PC would actually just load up fine after around the second try but no such luck today. I have gone in using safe mode and uninstalled my graphics drivers but now it gets as far as the Windows loading screen and just freezes, the computer is still running but it seems as if the display has frozen. Please help :(

Ok so I left it running and came back after a shower and it had loaded into Windows fine?? I wanted to test it again so I did the same thing while I was writing this and sure enough after like 15/20mins it loaded into Windows from the frozen screen. So I've now gone and uninstalled my graphics driver again because it was still showing in the programs lost in the control panel and now it's booting up fine every time, however it starts in this really low resolution and finally pops back into 1080p after like 2 mins.

Final update on this for now cause it's 1am and I got course tomorrow bright and early. So I have updated my graphics driver to the latest version (365.19) and it booted fine..... So I have no idea what was wrong and I'm super scared that it's gunna happens again, I'm going to see if it's still working when I get back tomorrow and make an edit sharing the result. Anyone have any ideas why any of this happened and what the problem was? Many thanks :)

First step, remove the new RAM, run system only on old RAM. Does it work OK? Second thing, what is the brand and model # of the power supply?

You have an older CPU, that may mean an older hard drive, a new hard drive and clean Windows setup may be a good idea.
