Will my EVGA 500w PSU run a Gigabyte GTX 970?

Here's the build I'm working on:

PSU: EVGA 500w
MoBo: MSI Z170A PC Mate
Processor: Intel i5 6500
GPU: Gigabyte GTX GeForce 970 Windstream 3x
SDD: Adata 120gb
HDD: WD 1tb 7200rpm
RAM: Team Elite 16GB (4 x 4GB)

Newegg recommends 550w, but other forums I've seen say that the 970 is the only GPU that will run on as low as 500w. I'm not going to be overclocking or anything either. Just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money. Thanks!

Which EVGA 500, it should be fine (most EVGA 500s are pretty good and have more than the needed 28 AMPs on the 12 volt rail)and you should have OC room if you want to OC - the PSUs recommended by NewEgg are always higher than what you need - they WANT you to buy a more expensive PSU and they also over rate the needs as they sell some crappy PSUs
