I have a USB 3.0 4-port hub, a USB 3.0 male to female extension cable, and a WD USB 3.0 external drive. when I have the whole set up connected (WD drive > 4-port hub > extension cable > USB 3.0 port) the drive only reads at USB 2.0 speeds. I checked with the drive plugged into the USB port, works as 3.0; drive into extension cable, works as 3.0; drive into hub, works as 3.0. but when connected all together, doesn't get 3.0. any ideas?

Are all of the components truly USB 3.0?

I ask because "compatibility" can be construed as the plug happens to fit.....

That said USB is limited to about 15 feet (5 meters). Are you exceeding that distance?

Overall the combination may not be viable for 3.0 use.

Is the USB hub independently powered? If not then that could be the cause.
