Hi guys,
I am currently running an i5-2500k on a p8p67 with a sata ssd and a gtx 780.
Would you guys recommend me upgrade my gpu, cpu(I'd have to upgrade mobo+ram), or neither? Im wondering if theres any news on the next gen of cpus and if it would be worth waiting for them.
I primarily use my pc for basic internet browsing, and gaming. Ill occasionally use photoshop or autocad, but dont have any problems with those apps.

I game on a 1080p 144hz monitor, and although I get over 144fps on CS:GO, newer games struggle to attain even steady 120 at the quality I'd like.

Yes, you should see an increase in fps as long as the...

That's a tough call. The aging i5-2500k (OK'ed) is still a viable gaming CPU with a strong card. But since you are getting excellent frame rates at 144hz, are you really sure you need to upgrade?
If so... I'd suggest a new, faster platform and CPU before any faster card. Yes, there are faster cards than the 780, but you won't see much noticeable performance improvement.

I'm running dual 780ti's to get better framerate in newer games, it looks like you could add a second gtx780 if you wanted, it will only run @ 4x on your second pcix slot though which isn't optimal but it will get you more framerate in sli compatible games.

I would stay with what you have for now, get 16gb of ram if you don't have 16gb already and consider the second 780, you can always upgrade your mobo to allow it to run full speed down the road and your cpu isn't bad either, it should last you a while.

To be honest, I just installed the division (got it free with my g810) and I can barely get over 40 fps. Although it feels decently smooth, uplays fps display doesnt go above 45

So you're saying that if I were to get a gtx 1080 (which I was planning on doing), I wont see much of an fps increase?

Im that type of guy that wouldnt want to spend 200$ or however much a 780 cost. Instead id wait it out and save my money for the next big thing. Plus im not sure my psu would be able to handle SLI. Why do you recommend getting 16gb ram? I have never reached over 70% of my memory being used.

Yes, you should see an increase in fps as long as the games are not heavily CPU dependent. What I meant was that you will probably not see a noticeable difference. If 40 fps is limiting you in some way, the 1080 should easily get you over 60 fps. I just don't think it is worth the cost over the 780 that you already have.

Ahh ok. I guess Ill hold off and just save my money until I have enough for a platform upgrade first. Thanks for your help mate!
