Planning to replace current build with Intel and having problems figuring out the right motherboard.. Going to OC the chip a little and USB3 is a must, am i better off getting a PCI-E card or does something fit my needs perfectly?

Solution
Get an i5 2500K. Much better performance than any LGA1366 except for the multi-threading monster 6 cores 980. I once saw it goes as low as $100-125. A second hand i7 2600K nearly twice than that, while performance wise both are pretty close.

Strongly recommend a new motherboard. Don't buy second hand stuff for motherboard. If anything fails over time, motherboard is very likely to be the first. Mileage vary depend on usage. For this purpose, at least a H67 chipset. I estimate about $30-45.

The rest of the budget should go to GPU. Any left over get twin RAM sticks.

I've considered that too, as my needs are very rarely anything else than gaming. A 920 would be more future proof as it could be overclocked unlike a locked multiplier i5 Sandy I've been thinking about but you are correct about the age and overclocking abuse they have gone through.

The 920 is an option also because they go for 20-25EUR where I'm from and that would leave much more room for graphics. I'm not planning to spend much more money than what I'd get from selling my current rig:
965BE with a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme
Asrock 970 Extreme4
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600mhz
ASUS HD7850 DCUII 2GB
120GB V300 SSD as boot, 1TB external HDD as mass (I know, not really the greatest solution)
Super Flower 80Plus Gold 400W PSU
All inside an Antec Nine Hundred Two v3

No.

i7 920 and future proofing no longer belong in the same sentence. I own it. I know it.

Your best bet is i3 tier from Skylake. It will run circle to any LGA1366 out there. Even on OC.

Although I do not own i3 Skylake, I do own 3570K. I gave out my 1366 just for HTPC now. With a mere HD7750.

Considering that Skylake i3's go for more than I'm planning to put on a cpu+mobo combined it is not an option.

I'm thinking that I'd be able to get 265 to 300 EUR for my build, that's around 300-335USD and
200-230 GBP. Main purpose is gaming at full HD with games ranging from lower req games to higher req games like Metro, Battlefield 3/4 and such. Going to source most of the parts second hand so should be plenty if I look hard enough.

Don't get the 590. Dual GPU is not a fun experience aside from limited driver support. Even more so on generation before Kepler.

For the same budget, get a second hand 970. Perform about the same and has the same architectural vein as Pascal, which means any driver update for Pascal will also affects Maxwell like 970.

I expect people would sell them and expect to be sold ASAP because the new gen 1070 on the horizon and want quick money to add up for it. Meaning; price war. A very good thing for people looking for nice and cheap second hand GPU. Your moment of glory is when someone credible sell it for about $200-250 range, preferably less :)

970's are out of my league with them going for anything over 300USD, and I think they won't drop the price even if the 1070 is on the way. A 680 is dirt cheap, with them going under 160USD and prices dropping with the 1080 coming, so I think I'll be on the hunt for a 4GB model. The 770 is also at the same price, would that be a better option?
