Win7 USB over Win8 Encrypted Drive

Hello all,

I just had a quick question regarding a complete PC refresh I'm working on. I have a complete endpoint & full disk encrypted (McAfee) Windows 8 system. I am trying to remove everything, completely wipe the disk, and boot a new fresh Windows 7 OS via USB directly over that.

A little background: There are actually multiple laptops I wish to do this with, as my company acquired another company's equipment through their bankruptcy.

I am just unsure on if the boot via USB will completely wipe out the old drive, or if Windows.old will still exist and if the encryption will still be injected somewhere?

Also, I'm not entirely sure on how to do this. I don't want the computers touching any networks until I end up doing this refresh so that the encryption doesn't gather any of my information, since I know it can.

This is enterprise-level encryption, if that makes a difference.

Thank you

Solution
When Endpoint Encryption is installed it hides the Windows MBR and uses a McAfee one instead. If the drive is decrypted using EETech then the Windows MBR is restored. The same applies to a clean installation of Windows.

Yes, it was managed by an ePO server I believe. They had multiple different McAfee solutions with their company as I understand it. I just didn't want there to be any injections into the kernel or something that could come back when I wipe it with my Win7 install. I know one of their other programs, Digital Guardian, does operate at the kernel level as well, but I don't think they used that for any encryption, but instead to track data.

My main worry was just them being able to see our data after we install our OS on it, but it sounds like nothing should remain.
