Dead PC won't turn on

Hello.
The main problem I am asking is, my PC won't turn on again.
Long explanation, I had a 7 y.o. PC and decided to change my old AMD for a new GTX 980.
This caused my PC to overheat so decided to change the case too, to a new Zalman box with 4 fans.
After taking my PC from London to Spain in delivery services, some games (i.e WoW or Sims 4) caused my PC to suddenly restart. After some researches, found that the most plausible solution to that issue was changing the power supply (from 650w to a Tacens Mars 700w) and everything seemed fine.

Today, playing WoW the PC suddenly turned off, but no auto-restarting this time. I turned on again and 15 min later, it went off again. Waited for a while and turned on again, this time it went off after a few minutes.

Now, it won't even turn on. It tries, the case leds go on for a second then off again.

There are lights on the case (on thr motherboard, and the gtx 980 has some lights on while plugged) and the external hdd I have goes on while plugged to the PC via USB.

Thanks for reading this! Any thougs?? Thank you very much!

When I had a low quality PSU die on me, it took out board, and CPU. I was lucky that it was just a cheap Sempron 145 and 760g biostar board, and not my main rig, as I had that PSU, in my main rig, prior to that one. Hopefully it isn't as extensive, for you.

I looked at the specs, of that PSU, and it is not a good one. It only has 46A on the 12v rail. A quality 550w can easily have 45A, just as an example. That PSU is not using quality components inside. That is the place I would start. You are risking your whole system, with that thing.

PSU could have been the initial problem, but motherboard is the next thing in line, that would show you the issue you are having. Problem is, a bad quality PSU can damage other hardware. That is why a quality PSU is important. It is the most important part of your system.

What PSU did you try? And what was it functioning in? The fact it's not working doesn't necessarily rule out the PSU.

A 500W PSU that is adequately powering something low powered like an i3 (with integrated graphics) and a couple of HDDs does not mean it will adequately power something with a power-hungry GPU.

Unless the PSU worked in an identical setup, there's no reason to expect it to work in your desktop necessarily.

There's also the potential that the prior PSU damaged some components in your rig (motherboard especially).

I tried the old PSU it was on my pc, which was working perfectly before the change (except it became overloaded, then would restart). So do I have to assume the new PSU has broken the motherboard? Since I put it the house light went off twice, and there were weird sounds from the inside while working... So now I have to invest on a new motherboard AND a new PSU...

Yes, that happened. Not sure if it was completely the PCs fault or the house's electricity setup (or the fact 4 people with quite too much electronic devices connected).
So... Solution? Changing motherboard and GPU?

Well, from what you have described, it appears that the motherboard got damaged by the PSU. So you need a quality PSU from the PSU Tier list loganofhades linked to above if they are available in your area. And a new motherboard. I would hold off on replacing the GPU until you get the PSU and motherboard. It may be OK.
