Size SLI bridge to get?

I have a Gigabyte z170x Gaming 7 motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5481#ov) and I'm going to be SLIing 2 GTX 1080s. I will be getting the Nvidia HB SLI bridge. What size do I need to be able to use it for the PCIe slot nearest the CPU and the one directly under? (The middle one) Thanks in advance.

Also would you advise I remove the backplate for SLI?

Edit: I don't have a measuring tool in mm. Anyone have this mobo?

measure from center of slot to center of slot in mm most times its 40mm for a 2 card set up but that's the way to check

for example

see long 2way is 60mm or short 2 way is 40mm

You don't need an SLI bridge at all with PCIE 3

so why do they put a sli bridge in the boards box then if not needed and the cards got the sli bridge tabs ??

Because some extremely high end cards can saturate PCIE 2.0, so they put the bridge to lighten the load on the bus ever so slightly. A modern board with PCIE 3.0 doesn't have to worry about this.

tells me nothing ?? amd is only bridgeless like I said show me something from NVidia official doc's

Geforce GTX1080

If you scroll down to near the bottom of the page, you'll find a section about SLI Bridges and a link to help you find the right size. Since your motherboard has a three slot separation between the PCI-Ex16 slots for SLI, that's the one you'll need (60.96mm).

that's a guess I guess ? how hard is it to measure things and be 100% sure ?? it would now be funny you go with the 60mm and find you really needed the 40mm

SLI compliant boards, will have to meet Nvidia's spec, on spacing. There is nothing to "guess" here.
