I'm trying to build a PC for quality 720 60fps twitch streaming games from my xbox one. Would this be a good build to get the job done as no gaming will be done on this pc?

Solution

Get a quality power supply. Anything from seasonic or EVGA GS/G2/B2 series.
I personally have the Snowball and it gets the job done.
It is overkill for a streaming machine. For streaming you will need a strong CPU and a decent amount of ram. Everything else doesn't really matter, except of course your internet connection speed, which also needs to have a decent amount of uploading speed.

I would cut the GPU and SSD, get a cheaper PSU, and get an i7 (if you want to improve stream quality later on you will need more CPU power).

Thanks for the help man! I am pretty new to this so I didn't know what to go with. Any chance you could specify part for par how you would make the build then? If it isn't too much to ask for I mean, lol

cheaper and better

Superninja's build is a very good one. Here is an alternative to consider. The difference is this being an overclockable build, so if needed you can get more performance out of it. Also note there is only an SSD, no 2nd harddrive. If it is only used for streaming a single SSD is more than enough for storage of OS and some streaming software. The PSU is 'only' 350 watts, which is all the build needs.

Gotcha, so the ssd 1T hd combo is necessary then. Thanks for the help. I'm gonna go with the 6700 since I don't plan on overclocking. I'm pretty new at this so I'd probably mess it up, lol.

If I go with a 6700, do I need an external fan for it? Should I still get the Z170 mb? I might be getting a gtx 980ti in the future so maybe I should?

So you need to edit youtube videos and stream videos?
For both an I7 will be better choice.
You don't need graphics card for these kind of work.
Give up overclocking and you can get better case, bigger/better power supply and a decent microphone for your youtube videos.

To edit videos you will definitely want more storage. I wouldn't recommend WD though, their failure rates have been rising lately, Hitachi drives seem to be the most reliable ones, followed by toshiba, and Seagate and WD are more or less the same on reliability (for mechanical drives that is).

If not into overclocking the regular i7 will do fine combined with a H170 board, or even a cheaper B150 would do fine.

If you plan on putting in a GTX 980ti later on you will want at least a 600 watts PSU to power a GTX 980ti.

Damn, I already purchased the i7 6700k and thank god I went with the evga 620W psu just in case! I went with the Msi z170-A Pro mb so hopefully that's ok. Will this motherboard and cpu support a gtx 1080 founders edition? I want to buy it as soon as it comes out on the 27th but idk if what I have can handle it. Figured I might get it since I am also thinking about streaming PC games and such. Although more for my own personal entertainment really, lol.

Which EVGA 620W?
Otherwise all looks good. The motherboard and cpu will support the gtx 1080. I would wait for board partners to release 1080 like asus, msi, gigabyte. According to NVIDIA, board partner 1080 will be cheaper than founders edition.
