The memory type of the GPU has nothing to do with a motherboard. A ddr3 motherboard means it supports ddr3 memory. The gpu memory is seperate, and as long as you have a full size pci slot, the gpu will work fine.

Even if you have the PCI-e slot make sure your mobo is compatible. I bought a r9 380 and it turned out not to be compatible with an old Pegatron mobo i had.
