hey guys got an issue driving me crazy!

playing say, witcher 3, or dark souls 3, the game sometimes (maybe once in 3 hours) the game screen will freeze, but sound will keep playing and you can actually still hear sounds being played as performing actions.

also, when booting a gsme, the screen flashes black and grey repeatedly for a few seconds, I've included a link to me recording the footage on my phone.

now the odd bit! I reinstalled windows, loaded up all the new drivers, and it was gone! all running fine, loaded up doom, played for half an hour, all good!

decided to try dark souls 3.....10 mins in and ....completely crashed! used task manager to end the program...anndd.....grey flashes are back!

seriously getting to me now guys :(please anyone help?

tried various screens, various cables, it's either the gpu 980ti, or my new mobile x99a raider msi, but I can't figure out which, and scan.co.uk where I got it from want me to send the gpu in and wait 4 weeks for an assessment :(

Asus gpu tweak was causing this for me, had to uninstall it totally, what third party software are you running?

I've tried with and without any msi software.

like I said, I find it really odd that somehow, a single game freeze has caused the issue after a windows reinstall fixed it..

was it causing the same kind of flashing on loading games?

OK new development, whilst playing DOOM earlier, 45 mins in the screen goes black, and the gpu msi logo had gone off, essentially the gpu shut down completly.

restarted and booted straight away, temps at the time were 71-74c, so well below thermal throttling

opened up afterburner, ran my OC profile (nothing serious, +50 clock speed and 100 memory) went into the game and after half hour happened again

so with and without OC it happened.

didn't happen on a less demanding game (EVE online)

pay is 850w gold evga less than 6 months old.
