Hello.
I've just bought this setup:

  • ASUS Z170I PRO GAMING
    Intel Core i7 6700K 4.0 GHz 8MB
    Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2133MHz CL13 Vengeance

But the motherboard wont post. What i've tried so far:

  • On board HDMI/Displayport
    Another PSU
Tried the RAM sticks one by one
    3 different monitors
    discrete graphic card
    re-attached CPU/Cooler
Checked for damage on CPU (not found)
    Reset CMOS

In the motherboard manual it says that the LEDS will blink if it detects a problem (ram/cpu) but that's not the case.
where could the problem be? Is it time to send back the stuff and let the store take a look at it? Has anyone else had problem with this motherboard? What more can i try?

Thanks.

Yes, the 24 pin and the CPU connector is connected.

This is what it says in the manual:

" Q LED check key components in sequeance during motherborad boot process. If an error is found the corresponding LED flashes until the problem is solved."

However the lights turns on and short after turns off. That's it.

Sounds like the motherboard is working, with the big red light on and LED light around the sound section on?

Maybe it is an issue with the device you are outputting to? If you press F2 or delete does it go to BIOS?

I've tried 3 monitors already with different cables (hdmi, displayport). no post to the monitor at all.

Try assembling it outside of the case, on something like the the motherboards box(do NOT put it on an anti static bag). With just the cpu(with cooler of coarse) and psu and see if you get a memory error. If you don't then its either the cpu or mobo(since ytou have already tried another PSU). If you do get a no memory code try 1 stick of ram and see what it does.

The moderboard is already outside of the case. If i remove the ram sticks (all of them) and turns on the computer the RAM LED is ON. It wont flash as it states in the manual that it should (if there i an error). If the sticks are in it turns ON and then turns OFF. Is the problem with the ram or ?

If i have no ram connected the LED stays ON.
If i have only RAM(1) connected to slot 1, the LED turns ON and after ~3 sec it turns OFF.
If i have only RAM(2) connected to slot 1, the LED turns ON and after ~3 sec it turns OFF.
If i have only RAM(1) connected to slot 2, the LED turns ON and after ~3 sec it turns OFF.
If i have only RAM(2) connected to slot 2, the LED turns ON and after ~3 sec it turns OFF.

Im not sure what the led is indicating when it just turns on and then off. The manual say that it should blink if there's an error. So no issue with the ram?

Possible, but unlikely both sticks are bad more likely a motherboard or a cpu problem.

The CPU led acts the same as the ram. No flashing(error). Could that indicate that it's a problem with the motherboard?

That's why I usually use the clr cmos jumper or button(depending on the board) to reset cmos. Using the jumper also clears nvram which removing the battery won't do. Glad to hear its up and running.
