I have an Acer Aspire E1-531 manufactured on 2013. I remember the box label having the specs of the laptop and I saw something about i3/i5. I've done my research and seen people saying the "Intel HM70 Express" chipset is only compatible with Celeron and Pentium CPUs but then why did the box talked about i3/i5 if people keep sayin it's not compatible?

Anywho, I looked at a thread in Acer's page, someone had E1-531 with a different serial number than mines (guessing it was a different sub-model) and the people from Acer listed an Intel Core i3 that was compatible with that one particular E1-531.

If anyone here knows how to find the list, I will leave all the information I have found about my hardware.

Acer Aspire E1-531
Processor: Intel Celeron 1005M 1.90GHz
Socket: G2 998B rPGA
Chipset: Intel HM70 Express
TDP: 35w
Code Name: Ivy Bridge

Motherboard: Acer EA50_HC_CR (U3E1)
Serial: NXM12AA031 (First 10 numbers of the entire serial)
Version: Type 2 - Board Version
BIOS: Acer V1.13
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics (Not sure about the model of HD Graphics)

I know, HM70 is just some crap that intel made, you have to unlock the chipset before it's going to work ("Core" Sandy and Ivy bridge -M processors use the same socket). This will create instability and is very risky. Model numbers can be very confusing, I am guessing that the same E1-531 that you came across came with HM76 or 77. I am not sure why are you looking for this, do you want to upgrade, or something else maybe? The 1005M is a very slow processor and even $400 laptops these days can do much better.
