Why am i getting bad fps in some games

Hey, I am having some fps issues in games such as arma 3 and DAYZ is it my specs or am I doing something wrong. Here are my specs: Processor INTEL CORE I7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHZ 2594 MHZ 4 CORES 8 LOGICAL PROCESSORS
GEFORCE GTX 960M

is this a new issue? were these same games running fine before on this system?
what resolution and ingame settings are you using?

that is a pretty weak laptop GPU. but you should be able to run most newer games at low settings and lower resolutions with good frame rates.

Isn't dayz the standalone mod of arma3?
Arma3 runs pretty much on a single core,so if your cpu (this one core) clocks up to 3,6 while you game than that's it,that's the best your cpu can do in this game.
