So I just built a computer with a MSI Z170A M5 motherboard. I'm able to boot from the usb and get to the installation interface. After selecting the language, when I click Install Now I get an error message that says the driver cannot be found. I've tried plugging my usb drive into both 2.0 and 3.0 on the motherboard but neither works. I don't get to see the license agreement which is usually the next step I believe.

Solution
i doubt bios would help, a brand new board should easily support win 7 except intel is removing support for USB installs of Win 7 and with so few people buying blue ray, its getting harder to install the os every day.

next fun step you may have is installing Ethernet drivers, that can be a problem too though you may be okay. Sometimes all the other USB slots don't work and the easiest option then is make a small partition on ssd, move ssd to another pc and add it as a secondary drive, download the drivers you need and copy them onto partition you made on ssd and then put it back in your pc and install drivers. If you have a storage drive, use that instead.

I tried using that and it was unable to format my usb... twice. Both times I had to reformat through cmd and diskpart.

where did you get your iso copy from? did you get it from Microsoft? its possible it is missing the drivers as its wrong version.

you can get it from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 but you need your licence key to download it.

Do you have any non-essential devices attached to your system? Windows 7 setup might be trying to detect them. Disconnect them, power down the system, start it up again and see if it picks up from where it left off.

I only have the usb, keyboard, and mouse attached. Idk where I got the iso, the windows 7 was a professional copy from my father's company but I just installed windows 7 on another computer with the exact same usb and everything went fine.
