Should I get this computer? ANSWER QUICK!!!

Solution

There is nothing in that Dell workstation that you can't find and replace if needed, and for the price it's basically a toss-away if anything breaks. It would be a lot more reliable than a standard office or home system.

Aside from that, for a basic use system the HP SFF is fine, the drive would be faster and it will run a lot quieter than the Dell.

The PC he selected is most likely i5 2500, which will outperform that Xeon in most tasks. The rub is of course that its SFF so not really upgradeable much. Not that he seems to care.

Also I can't tell for sure but the whole HDD interface is likely SAS (as the included drive is SAS) which means he can't add an SSD and any good HDD is going to cost quite a bit more.

Do not get the Dell. It contains workstation parts that will likely cause you a headache should they ever need maintenance. The HP will likely suite you better, assuming you don't want to muck around inside it's case. The only upgrade I think you would want to do with it anyway is to add more RAM, since 4GB is kinda cutting it these days.

im repetitively certain it runs a i5 2300 here is a comparison etween that and the xeon
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-2300+%40+2.80GHz
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+W3565+%40+3.20GHz

the i5 as expected is a little bit faster for single core but the xeon is better for multi core. the t3500 has sata ports so sas wont be a issue.

doing anything on either computer will be exactly the same mabe easier in the t3500 due to a larger space. and ram for the t3500 will be extremly cheap to upgrade unlike the one he listed which will require he replace the stick rather then adding

I get the feeling this guy is not looking to make further upgrades after buying this PC, which gives the HP a leg up since it already has an SSD with Windows 10 preinstalled. I doubt the better multithreaded performance of the Xeon will help, given the kinds of tasks this PC will likely be given. And as for the RAM, with 4 DIMM slots and only 4GB of RAM, it's likely that HP has some open slots. Even if it didn't, DDR3 was dirt cheap last I checked, so having to replace sticks shouldn't matter much, though that's probably a moot point since, like I said, he's probably not looking to upgrade.
