In my current pc I have an FX-4100 (3.6ghz) and a Radeon 6970. I'm thinking about upgrading to the GTX 1070 but I am pretty sure that it will be bottlenecked by my cpu. How good of a cpu do I have to get so that there is no bottlenecking?

I don't know of any actual gaming benchmarks available, basic specs have only been out for a week or so and I'm not sure there are any cards in the wild just yet. Personally I take any company's own marketing hype with a grain of salt but if we believe what nvidia claims the 1070 will be a bit faster than a titan x. Safe to say it would pair best with a strong(er) cpu to take advantage of it, something like an i5 if it's within your budget. If not the 6600k then the 6500.

The fx 4100 performs around the same as an old core2quad q8400 so I think it's safe to say it would be a pretty big bottleneck in most games. It will depend on the game itself, how much gpu it takes or how much cpu it takes. Some games really push the limits of the...

If looking to stay with amd I'd recommend waiting for zen since it should be a pretty solid upgrade over the current fx line.
