Use Docking Station to wipe HD

Hi guys

I need to wipe a HD using an All-in-one Docking Station, Model WLXKJ-875. It is borrowed from a friend, but it seem to me I need software to go with it. I have not used one before. It only have one USB lead. The HD is a Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 80GB ATA. Can anyone advise me please.

It won't work with just a USB cable.

A docking station needs an external 12v supply to drive 3.5-inch hard drives, it can't get 12v from a USB port.

It needs a mains power adapter which you plug in to a wall socket, then plug other end into the power jack on the docking station. Power adapter should have been supplied with the docking station when it was new.
