Mobo: Asus M4A79T deluxe
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955

Hi guys. I've found many threads similar to my problem but not one with an answer. I think I also know for sure what caused the main problem unlike many of the other threads.
So I noticed my CPU was running at 800MHz with a x 4 multiplier. Cool n quiet was disabled and loading up the system did not change the core speed reading when looking at it with CPU-Z.
So I decided to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version on the Asus website. On first boot after the BIOS flash I selected F2 for default settings and all seemed well until a reboot. At this point the fans spin fast and there is no post.
I found I can get post by removing the mobo battery (CMOS reset?) and trying again. If I select F1 to enter setup and then Esc to exit BIOS without changes, the machine boots just fine. On the other hand, if I save changes to the BIOS the power immediately cuts and no post.
I tried going back to an earlier BIOS version but I don't know which version I had before and the problem remains.
I'm thinking that maybe I need to apply some changes to the BIOS setting before saving changes in order for it to work properly? But I have no idea what may need changing. Maybe reflashing the BIOS lost all the setting that were in there previously?
Some help would be much appreciated.

There is a similar sounding problem here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2409839/system-boot-cmos-cleared.html
which seems to have been resolved by changing some BIOS settings. Can anybody help me with the settings in my BIOS? I can post screenshots if required.

Here are some shots of my BIOS screens. May changing anything in here allow the Save and Exit function to work successfully?

Yes, I did use EZ Flash 2 to flash the latest BIOS. The process seems to complete successfully. The problem comes when the machine reboots. If I then go into BIOS and want to save changes to any settings, the PC immediately cuts power on save and exit, then will no longer post without a CMOS reset. The only way to avoid this is to go into BIOS then Esc without saving changes. The machine then boots into windows but I have to do that at every boot.

What about the CMOS-battery? Just for fun, change it.

So even when doing the clear cmos and after not setting the "optimal default values" but just "save changes and exit" it still shuts down?
