I have a problem with booting, i am getting this error:

Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1.insert windos cd and run a repair your computer option.
File: /EFI/MICROSOFT/BOOT/BCD
Status: 0xc000000F
An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I used macrium to clone from the hdd to ssd, i knew the boot would be messed up since i've done it before.

but to fix it last time i booted into the windows pe environment macrium provided and it fixed it. (though before i was using an old abit ab9 pro board if that makes any difference)

this time it didn't.

Also tried using the windows 7 repair disk, it said it fixed something but it still happens.

also hitting enter lets me continue into windows.

Solution

Didn't work.. same thing happened.

Though i think i fixed it...

This is the first time i've been on the new uefi bioses so i wasn't used to them.

But i saw in the boot options 2 "Windows Boot manager" options which i assume accounted for the 2 error screens, and then the 3rd option was just "SATA6 G_1 OCZ-ARC100" which is my ssd.

so i changed the boot order and bam... no more errors.

thanks though.

tried that, still got the same error. Though i also had to re-activate windows.

Is this because i had another OS on it? I am getting 2 of these error screens, i bypass one and then another one comes up then when i get past that it loads windows.

all i did was quick format it before installing the new one.

You have not cloned bootloader partition from your previous drive.
Well you can recreate it:
1. Create primary partition in unallocated space (ntfs format)
2. Make it active.
3. Reboot from windows installation media.
4. Choose Repair your computer/startup repair

5. Choose command prompt and enter commands:

  • bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
6. Reboot from SSD.
