Hey everyone,

So I have a friend that is looking to sell me two graphics cards cheep that he runs in tandem:

My question for the community is will it work with my current hardware? The problem is that some of my components are kind of old so I'm not sure if they will be compatible.

Here is some info for the community to help you get an idea of what I'm working with:

Power supply:

Ram:
I have two units of this so that comes out to 32gigs:

Hard Drives:
I have one of these:

I have two of these:

Mother Board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131942

That was the closest I could find on new egg according to my system read out its actually a:
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M/USB3 Rev X.0x

Processor:
4.00 gigahertz AMD FX -8350 Eight-Core
384 kilobyte primary memory cache
8192 kilobyte secondary memory cache
8192 kilobyte tertiary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Hyper-threaded (8 total)

I couldn't find this on new egg.

Thanks for the help!

Solution
You can only run one of the cards , your board doesn't support SLI , the 8350 is a poor match for 1 - 970 and your PSU isn't the greatest in terms of quality.

You could run 1 - GTX 970 on that setup.

Everything except for the CPU look fine. You won't be able to utilize all of those 8 (weak) cores, so I'd suggest upgrading to an i5. Also, I'd suggest waiting for the 10XX series, as it may be worth your time if you're going to upgrade your CPU. Your CPU is pretty weak (8 weak cores, and only 4 are really being used), even a single GTX 970 will bottleneck in lots of cases.
