My current setup is as follows:
Mobo- Gigabyte G1.SNIPER A88X
CPU- AMD Athlon X4 860K OC @ 4.2 Ghz
GPU- Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 (Asus 2gb GDDR5 edition)
RAM- 8gb @ 1600mhz (I think)
Storage- 1Tb HDD and 240GB ssd
CPU Cooler- Corsair H100i GTX
What should I upgrade next? I was thinking CPU but I'm not sure which component would bottleneck (if any) if I upgraded. I'm not looking toward an amazing upgrade. Just a mid tier component (like an FX 8300/8350 if I were to upgrade the CPU). I'm not sure what kind of performance increase this would give, if any.

In short, should I upgrade my CPU or another component, and what to?

Upgrade GPU, and add 8 gb more ram and you are set. If you got the money go for gtx 980 or 980ti. If you don't have that kind of money. You should get the 970

To be honest I'd save up so you can do an upgrade to a modern cpu, even the FX8xxx is showing it's age now. Saving for a Skylake or Zen based setup would be my choice instead of putting money into already end of life platforms. Once on a modern platform a GPU upgrade would show great results.

I understand this. I was implying that if I were to upgrade, I would buy a new motherboard
