I am in the process of building a new "semi-budget" build and I am confused between getting an R9 380 and a GTX 960 windforce G1 gaming 4G 4gb so I would like to know your guys's opinion on it too, and I have a 750 w power supply so power is no problem for me.

the thing is, the 380 does slightly better as resolution increases, as the larger bus width helps along the memory. the 960 will perfrom better in 1080p. in 1440p though, the 380 will trump (dammit why. I hate using the word now). the 380 comes with better texture and for more beautiful images. while the 960 is more performance wise for gaming on 1080. also mind the power comsumption

I was in this position a few months ago and went with the R9 380 and happy I did. The 960 uses a weaker memory bus than a GTX 260. Not worth the money.

Every benchmark and gaming test shows the R9 380 winning, with the exception of games who are better optimized for Nvidia cards.

thanks for all of your opinions guys, but in the end, I will be going for the 960 because 1) I won't be doing any gaming over 1080p (atleast right now as I only have a 1080p monitor and I don't want to spend any more) 2) I will probably upgrade to a 970 or 980 by the time I start 4K gaming and 3) the 960 has better software and drivers, like Nivdia ShadowPlay.
